Oscars Best Dressed

February 28th, 2011

A few of my favorites found their way to worst dress lists but I usually dont agree with those polls. Mila’s Elie Saab’s lavender lace draped gown was first on my list. The nude gowns of Hilary Swank, Halle Berry, Mandy Moore and Florence Welch were all so beautiful in their own mystical flowy way. Of course, L’Wren Scott’s sequin gown worn by Amy Adams jumped up on my favorites list despite of the not so likable necklace she wore with it.

I was not so sure about Cate Blanchard’s jeweled Givency Couture gown and Scarlett Johansson’s lacy, magenta frock by Dolce & Gabbana. Both of these stood out for their unique designs and colors but I’m still not so sure. I’m leaning more toward’s Cate’s over Scarlett’s. Ha I really want to like Cate’s but something is just throwing me off. What are your thoughts?

NY Fashions

February 22nd, 2011

Fall 2011 looks like it will be a fun fashion season with all of the prints and colors that have embraced the runway! My favorites from NY Fashion Week are Jill Stuart’s bright and airy color blocking long dresses…

…and Anna Sui’s tiny printed frocks with woodland creature hats. This line reminds me of little girls skipping through the forrest. I want to wear them now!!

I took a look at the spring lines for this season as well and came out with Marc Jacob’s brightly colored outfits in shades of dark purple and pink as a new favorite.

Rodart’s Spring 2011 collection also made me give a second glance. Im not sure if it is the collection’s natural color palette or minimalistic feel that caught my eye.

Shop Highlight

February 21st, 2011

Another sweet Etsy shop, Homako, uses felt, fabric and rope to create her fun necklaces! These will be great for summer by adding several gold chains or other small necklaces to acquire the much loved layered jewelry look. Modcloth’s Take Me with Zoo Necklace and Tool’s of the Trade Necklace are great for layering.

Hello, Long Dress

February 17th, 2011

See long dresses/skirts can look good even if your not tall and and stick skinny!!

This dress had been sitting on my chair for quite a while waiting for me to muster up the courage and self confidence to wear it out. And when that courage finally came, a comment saying that I resembled a witch blew that courage away. So this time I styled it much different…bangs back, less witch like jewels and more earthy tones.

Dressing in dark colors has been a challenge since my closet is normally full of brightness, patterns, ruffles and pastels. But for some reason the color black mixed with shades of dark green have grabbed a hold of me.
